Anna Hathaway channeled the classic Cannes accessories in a photocall Friday: sunglasses, flashbulbs and plenty of photographers. The actress took to La Croisette to promote her new movie, Armageddon Time, stepping out in a setting which evokes Hollywood glamor with co-star Jeremy Strong. The film, which had a red carpet premiere earlier in the week, sees Hathaway play a mom of a rebellious teen in 1980 Queens. Cannes’ eponymous film festival is marking its 75th anniversary with a high-octane injection of Hollywood glamor. As well as Hathaway, Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connelly have hit the red carpet to give an A-list energy to the Mediterranean town. The festival is also coming back from being canceled in 2020 and postponed and more sparsely attended in 2021. Hathway, 39, evoked a golden era of cinema posing in the town which became a byword for glamor in the 50s. Among those who flocked there were Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Diana Dors and Grace Kelly – who married the prince of nearby Monaco. And more recently Princess Diana and Catherine Deneuve have been among those showing why Cannes remains film’s most-photographed festival.
