Joe Jonas Files For Divorce From Sophie Turner

Joe Jonas put the rumors to rest on Tuesday by officially filing for divorce from Sophie Turner after four years of marriage, per reports.
The Jonas Brothers singer, 34, filed for divorce in Miami, claiming that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” The filing also confirmed the pair have a prenuptial agreement.
Jonas and the 27-year-old “Game of Thrones star began dating in 2016 and married in 2019. They share two daughters, Willa, 3, and a second girl born in July 2022, whose name hasn’t been shared publicly.
TMZ first reported Saturday morning that the pair were headed for divorce, with signs of the impending dissolution including the sale of their Miami home and photos of Jonas sans wedding ring. The outlet also reported that Jonas was caring for their two children while on tour in the U.S.
Although the divorce filing states the children have been with Jonas while on tour, it also says that it is in the “best interests” of their children that they share parental responsibility.
“Joe Jonas started off by asking for joint, physical custody, which means he would divide the children’s time with Sophie Turner 50–50. I would expect both these parents to be focused on the best interests of the children and work towards coparenting; this is what the court will prioritize,” said attorney Shawna Woods, managing partner of Atlanta Divorce Law Group, who is not involved in the case.
“As long as both parents’ priorities regarding the children’s best interest are aligned with the court; the child custody matters of the divorce can be handled swiftly,” Woods said.
“Sophie Turner has been very brave with being open about her mental health issues. Going through a divorce, especially a public one, can be very difficult emotionally. Divorce can really mess with a person’s sense of identity, belonging, and purpose. We encourage all our clients to continue or start therapy during a divorce,” Woods said.
Rumors were swirling for days as fans pointed out that Jonas was wearing his wedding ring in a photo shared the day the news broke.
In an Instagram post shared Saturday by Joe Jonas and the Jonas Brothers account, Joe can be seen sitting alongside his brothers Kevin and Nick, with his left hand held up to his face, wedding ring clearly visible.
“Happy Labor Day weekend everyone. This tour has be incredible so far! Having a little family time in the Texas sunset tonight before a big Austin show tomorrow,” the band captioned the photo.
Turner was spotted at the Jonas Brothers’ opening concert at Yankee Stadium in New York last month. The next day, she shared a photo on Instagram for Jonas’s birthday, showing the pair wearing matching green striped pajamas, captioned “Happy birthday handsome.”
