Johnny Depp was in good spirits when dining at the Varanasi restaurant in Birmingham, England, on Sunday, according to one of the dining establishment’s employees.
Joanna Sadowinska has been a receptionist at the fine dining restaurant for five years and said she was floored when staff learned Depp, 58, would be joining with a group of friends for an Indian meal.
So we found out Johnny was coming over in the afternoon on Sunday. Obviously we were all excited as a team at Varanasi to have such a star in our restaurant, Sadowinska recalled.
Depp was joined by English rock guitarist Jeff Beck and others. The actor’s group arrived around 7:30 p.m. local time and stayed for approximately five hours, according to the staffer.
Depp’s arrival took place just days after he scored a massive win in his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The receptionist shared that he couldn’t have been more cordial to staff members and diners, who got a chance to meet and take selfies with the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
He was really humble and in a happy mood, to be honest with you, Sadowinska added.
Plus, Depp didn’t leave hungry! The receptionist said Depp’s group enjoyed chicken tikka, shish kebabs, vegetable samosa, king prawns, panna cotta and cheesecake.
After having a chance to mingle with Depp, Sadowinska said her only request is that he return to Varanasi again one day.
