Ms. Lauryn Hill has postponed most of remaining concerts scheduled this year as part of the 25th anniversary tour celebrating The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, due to serious vocal strain.
The tour, co-headlined by her band The Fugees with Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel, will still stop in Philadelphia on Nov. 25, because that show was already rescheduled and is close to New Jersey, which is basically hometown.
Well close out the year with one final show amongst friends and family! she wrote on Instagram Tuesday.
The Ready or Not singer, 48, began her message by saying how much she’s enjoyed being on tour, and how much I appreciate all of the fans who have come out to celebrate this incredible milestone anniversary and history making reunion.
Being able to tour this album to sold out crowds after 25 years has been an emotional experience! Ive loved sharing the stage again with Wyclef and Pras. The Return of the Fugees has been powerful and amazing—those whove witnessed it can testify, she wrote
As many of you may know, Ive been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely, she wrote.
The Doo Wop singer said shows canceled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024.
AND because of the overwhelming response, well be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas. Were working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon, Hill wrote.
