Miley Cyrus took to TikTok on Thursday to explain the background on a photo of her walking alongside Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and Emily Osment that went viral in 2009.
In the photo, Cyrus is seen wearing cargo pants and a cardigan while the other three women are in full red-carpet glam.
“This picture has become a meme where it says ‘be the Miley of your friend group’,” the singer said. “If you guys didn’t know I was bisexual from this d picture, I don’t know what’s wrong with you,” she said.
In a 2016 interview with Variety, Cyrus came out as pansexual, sharing that the word ‘bisexual’ was “putting me in a box.”
The 30-year-old went on to say she thought they were leaving the Grammys to go to the Cheesecake Factory when the photo was snapped. But internet sleuths matched the women’s dresses to another event: the premiere of “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” a spinoff of the TV series in which Cyrus starred as the titular Hannah Montana.
The video came as part of a TikTok series called “Used to be Young,” which shares a name with a single from her recent album, “Endless Summer Vacation.”
In another video, Cyrus talked about the controversial Vanity Fair cover photo she posed for when she was only 15, wearing nothing but a blanket.
“This was the first time I ever wore red lipstick because Pati Dubroff, who did my makeup, thought that that would be another element that would divide me from Hannah Montana,” she said.
