Independent film studio A24 won a bidding war for the rights to Walter Isaacsons authorized biography of Elon Musk, and the biopic is set to be directed by Darren Aronofsky.
The biography about the controversial tech mogul was released in September, and revealed some new details about Musks life — and a secret third child with the musician Grimes.
Aronofsky last directed Oscar contender The Whale starring Brendan Fraser, which was also produced by A24. The director is known for surreal dramas including Pi and Requiem for a Dream, and received a best director Oscar nomination for 2010’s Black Swan.
A24, founded in 2012, made history at the last Academy Awards when it became the first production company to win all of the top Oscars — Best Picture, Best Director, and all four acting awards — on the strength of Everything Everywhere All At Once, and The Whale.
The company has released a slew of critically acclaimed films, including Ex Machina, Room, Lady Bird, and Uncut Gems, along with two Best Picture Oscar winners: Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Musk, the billionaire CEO of electric carmaker Tesla, the founder of SpaceX, and now the owner of X, formerly Twitter, has now been a subject of public fascination for decades.
In a post on X Friday, Musk commented on the news by saying: Glad Darren is doing it. He is one of the best.”
