Barbra Streisand deleted a comment from a post by Melissa McCarthy on Monday after fans said it was rude of her to ask if the actress used Ozempic to lose weight.
On Monday, McCarthy shared photos of herself alongside choreographer and director Adam Shankman at the Center Theatre Group’s CTG The Gala event at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, which they attended the day before.
Pastels only to honor the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this fella @adamshankman, McCarthy, 53, wrote alongside the photos. Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage.
The Bridesmaids star posed in a pastel green tulle dress topped with a matching blazer.
Streisand, 82, commented on the photos: Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?
Other users quickly called out the Funny Girl star’s comment, with one describing it as having boomer aunt with wine and an ipad energy.
Others gave Streisand the benefit of the doubt, suggesting she accidentally posted the comment publicly when it was likely meant to be a private message.
McCarthy appeared on Streisand’s Encore album back in 2016, performing a duet of Anything You Can Do with the legendary singer.
Streisand’s comment was soon deleted, but not before screenshots were shared across other accounts. McCarthy did not respond to her comment before it was removed.
Other stars heaped praise on McCarthy’s look in the comments. Mariska Hargitay and Glenn Close each described the look as gorgeous, while Elizabeth Banks commented, Stunners!!
McCarthy has been open about her ups and downs as she struggled with her weight over the years, and once admitted a fad all-liquid diet succeeded in helping her lose 70 pounds, though she would never do it again.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last year, McCarthy described meeting Streisand, and being surprised at her casually munching on lunch meat.
When someone who you think you should be curtseying to keeps eating lunch meat, it really kind of levels the playing field, McCarthy told the outlet. It was really charming. I was like, ‘You’re really pounding lunch meat.’ She’s like, ‘Yeah.’
