Jeremy Renner is still on the road to recovery after he was nearly killed by a snow plow in January, and after a variety of treatments, he says, my greatest therapy has been my mind.
The Avengers actor, 52, sustained dozens of broken bones and organ damage when he was run over by a massive snow plow in Nevada on New Year’s Day. He was plowing snow in his Lake Tahoe driveway when he tried to stop the tractor from hitting his nephew and was pulled under. He was hospitalized for weeks.
Despite returning to the red carpet and appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live in April, Renner continues to undergo daily therapy, and has tried a multitude of treatments.
He shared a photo of himself wearing a red light mask on Instagram on Monday, and listed many of the treatments he’s tried. Red light therapy is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use on certain types of facial wounds, such as cold sores or herpes, and some studies indicate it may speed wound healing.
I have been exploring EVERY type of therapy since Jan 14th, he wrote alongside the photo. Everyday, countless hours of physical therapy, peptide injections, IV drips and pushes, stem cell and exosomes, red light / IR therapy, hyperbaric chamber 2.0 atmospheres, cold plunge, and the list goes on and on, he wrote.
But despite all the cutting-edge and sometimes experimental medical technology, he says the most important part of the healing process has been his own will.
My greatest therapy has been my mind and the will to be here and push to recover and be better…. Be exceptional… I feel its my duty to do so. Not to squander my life being spared, but to give back to my family, friends, and all of you whom have empowered me to endure, he wrote.
Last month, Renner announced that Love and Titanium, a collection of songs written about milestones on his journey to recovery, is soon to be released.
‘Love and Titanium’ has been painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic for me to create, Renner said. I hope I get the courage to share with you all.
