Sue Bird Says She And Megan Rapinoe Were Dressed For Another Wedding, Not Their Own

Sue Bird took to Instagram to clear up misconceptions after a series of photos caused fans to wonder whether she and fiancée Megan Rapinoe had gotten married.
The retired WNBA star had previously posted photos in which she and Rapinoe were all dressed up, or as she captioned them, Sue-ted & Booted.” Bird, 43, was wearing a white double-breasted jacket with a white pearl hair clip and the recently retired soccer star, 38, wore a black blazer dress over lacy tights with a medical boot on one leg due having surgery for a torn Achilles last month.
It turned out they were dressed up not for their own wedding, but for that of soccer players Jess Fishlock and Tziarra King.
“PSA: Megan & I did NOT get married,” Bird wrote on her Instagram Story. “Sorry for the confusion. I guess the fits were too good.”
Bird and Rapinoe met at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and have been engaged since October 2020.
Rapinoe also posted pictures from the wedding, where she hit the dance floor with the brides on an electric scooter.

Fellow retired soccer star Ali Krieger also shared photos from the wedding.
