The Neverending Story is returning to the big screen with a live-action film series from See-Saw Films.
Today we are unbelievably excited to announce that See-Saw Films is going into partnership with Michael Ende Productions to develop and produce live action films adapted from Michael Endes ‘The Neverending Story!’ See-Saw Films posted Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter.
The 1979 fantasy novel by late German author Michael Ende was previously adapted into the cult classic 1984 film, which was followed by two sequels in 1990 and 1994.
According to Variety, Endes estate has been hearing offers for the last few years from studios and streamers hoping to bring the world of Fantastica to a modern audience.
See-Saw Films has produced several literary adaptations for both film and television, including The Power of the Dog and Slow Horses. Iain Canning and Emile Sherman will produce the new films for See-Saw, with Roman Hocke and Ralph Gassmann for Michael Ende Productions.
‘Every generation deserves a journey into Fantastica.’ Let the story of all stories begin! See-Saw Films said.
“The story is both timely and timeless, and really has an opportunity to be told in a fresh way,” Canning told Variety. “And part of the specialness of the book is that you can go back to it at different ages in your life and find different levels of meaning. So how wonderful that we have this opportunity to do a fresh perspective that will have new layers and meanings. We just believe that every generation deserves their own journey into Fantastica.”
