Tim Burton is attached to direct a remake the 1958 B-movie classing Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, with Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn, per reports.
The original film, starring Allison Hayes, is about an heiress who grows to giant size after an alien encounter, and uses her new power to get revenge on a cheating husband.
Deadline and Variety reported Burton will direct the reimagined film, along with producing alongside Mittman and Tommy Harper, and executive producer Kai Dolbashian.
Burton has experience reviving midcentury sci-fi classics, like his 1996 version of Mars Attacks! which was originally a trading card series.
Flynn, who adapted her novel Gone Girl for the big screen, will write the screenplay. She also wrote episodes of the HBO series Sharp Objects, based on her debut novel, for which she was nominated for an Emmy.
Flynn also recently confirmed she will be adapting Dark Places, her second novel, for an HBO limited series. The book was previously turned into a movie starring Charlize Theron.
Buton, meanwhile, has his second season of Wednesday coming soon to Netflix, following Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) of the Addams Family. Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is set to hit theaters on Sept. 6.
