Whoopi Goldberg on Tuesday admitted using the drug Mounjaro to lose weight.
While the panelists on The View on Tuesday discussed Oprah Winfrey’s televised special on ABC focused on using drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic for weight loss, Goldberg stood up for her Color Purple co-star.
I will tell you, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I made Till, Goldberg said, referring to the 2022 film she produced and starred in about Mamie Till-Bradley seeking justice after the murder of her son Emmett in 1955.
While filming in 2021, Goldberg was recovering after being hospitalized for nearly a month with pneumonia and sepsis.
I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff, and one of the things thats helped me drop the weight is the Mounjaro –– thats what I use,” the 68-year-old EGOT winner said.
Goldberg said she hadn’t fully realized how much weight she had gained until she began filming the movie in September 2021.
“I just always felt like me, and then I saw me, and I thought, Oh, thats a lot of me,’” she said.
My weight has come and gone and up and down, but its never been an issue for me because I dont listen to what other people say about me so it has never been a problem. But I think its very hard for people to just know what a normal weight would be, Goldberg said.
Maybe the key is to stop judging everybody. Maybe thats the key, she said.
