The DunKings are back with an extended cut of their song, featured in Dunkin’ Donuts Super Bowl commercial staring Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Tom Brady.
In the commercial that aired during the game on Sunday, Affleck, Damon and Brady formed the boy band DunKings, to the embarrassment of Affleck’s wife, Jennifer Lopez.
On Tuesday, Dunkin’ released an extended 4-minute version of the commercial, and on Wednesday, the company will release the full single, titled Don’t Dunk Away At My Heart.
In the ad, Affleck asks Lopez for help working on some beats.
Do you have any time today if I wanted to squeeze by and like…?” he asks. J. Lo’s face makes it clear she’s uninterested. “I understand,” Affleck says. “Jen, you know, not the only one with a dream.”
Affleck then turns to TikTok star Charli DAmelio for help with his dance moves. DAmelio, in a callback to not knowing who he was in real life, says, Is that you? Jennifer Lopez’s husband. That’s cool. Then she asks him what he does.
I do some acting and writing and directing of movies, which are a long form entertainment that were popular in the twentieth century, Affleck replies.
The actor then gives himself a pep talk, before the ad cuts to the game-day commercial, with Jack Harlow in a car with him. Referring to last year’s Super Bowl commercial, in which Lopez pulled up to a Dunkin’ drive-thru while he was working the window, Affleck says to Harlow, Last year, she came to my work. Now, I got to show her what I can do.”
Affleck then barges into the recording studio wearing a DunKing’s tracksuit.
What up Bronx! For your consideration, here comes the Boston Massacre. The DunKings!” Affleck says, as fellow band members Matt Damon and Tom Brady join him.
The trio then sings for Lopez as Affleck shows off his moves. “Dont dunk away at my heart. Why you Dunkin me, girl?” they sing.
The ad was produced by Artists Equity, Affleck and Damon’s production company, while the song was written by Brandon Pierce, Artists Equitys VP-Executive Creative Director, and produced by The Kids Are Lucky.
To go along with the ad, Dunkin’ introduced a DunKings menu at locations nationwide for a limited time, including Affleck’s own drink, called the DunKings Iced Coffee, featuring notes of vanilla and cinnamon, and DunKings Munchkins Skewers.
