The one-week theatrical preview of Netflixs “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” may have pulled in $12 million to $13 million at the box office over the holiday weekend, per reports.
The sequel to 2019s “Knives Out” was the first Netflix film to play in the three biggest theater chains in the U.S. — Regal Cinemas, AMC Theaters and Cinemark.
“Glass Onion” ran in fewer than 700 theaters, however, and Netflix hasnt revealed the films box office performance. It wont be available to stream until Dec. 23.
The mystery once again stars Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc, and he sifts through suspects played by Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson and Edward Norton.
Lionsgate released “Knives Out” in 2019, earning $26 million Thanksgiving weekend. Netflix bought the rights to produce the second and third films in the series.
