Dex Carvey, the son of comedian Dana Carvey, died Wednesday of an accidental overdose, his family announced Thursday. He was 32.

They said their beloved son died of an accidental drug overdose.
Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things–music, art, film making, comedy–and pursued all of them passionately,” they said.
“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee, they wrote.
Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever, they wrote.
Dex followed in his father’s footsteps, pursuing comedy and acting. He starred in 2013’s The Funster, a series that also featured his father, and in Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser. He also opened for his father’s Netflix special, Straight White Male.
Carvey and Zwagerman also share 30-year-old son Thomas Carvey.
In their announcement of Dex’s death, his parents also shared thoughts for others who are struggling with addiction.
To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers, they wrote.
