Grimes Sues Elon Musk Over Parental Relationship To Their Three Children

Grimes is suing Elon Musk over parental rights for their three children, per reports, following drama stirred up last month by revelations from Walter Isaacsons “Elon Musk” biography.
Claire Boucher, the musician known as Grimes, filed a petition to establish parental relationship on Sept. 29 in California, per reports. The request is used to have the court establish the legal parents of a child when they are not married.
Musk last month confirmed the existence of a third child with Grimes, named Tau Techno Mechanicus according to his post on X, formerly Twitter. The secret was initially revealed in the new biography Elon Musk by Isaacson.
The Oblivion singer, 35, and Musk, 52, began dating in 2018 and had a son named X Æ A-Xii, in May 2020. Their relationship was on-again, off-again until they finally split in September 2021.
Their second child, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, aka Y, was born via surrogate in December 2021, three months after the couple broke up. Exa Dark’s existence was a similarly secret until Grimes admitted it to a Vanity Fair interviewer who heard the baby crying last year.
At around the same time, Musk fathered twins with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, who reports directly to him, via sperm donation. The twins were born in November 2021.
The apparent overlap — and according to the biography, lack of communication — caused turmoil. In a since-deleted post on X, Grimes replied to a promotional post from the author indicating Musk and Zilis were preventing her from seeing her son, and said the situation was utterly ripping my family apart.
Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer, Grimes said.
In a followup, Grimes said she had spoken to Zilis and that all was well between them, saying they are excited to become friends and have the kids grow up together.
Communication about the twins wasnt handled super well in the past, but I now totally understand what happened and totally forgive the situation, Grimes said. I wish I could show u how cute little Techno is but my priority rn is keeping my babies out of the public eye.
The filings connected to Grimes’ petition are sealed, though the docket is public. It does not appear she has yet requested child support or custody rights.
Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX, has fathered a known total of 11 children with three different women.
