Supermodel Christy Turlington says her son’s high school basketball rivals once passed around a photo of her in order to heckle him.
Turlington, 55, shared the anecdote during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar published on Wednesday, and admitted she just wanted to disappear.
“I was surprised it hadnt happened sooner,” the runway legend told the outlet. “But at the same time, I was like, This is so rude!’
Turlington shares 18-year-old son Finn and 20-year-old daughter Grace with her husband, Edward Burns.
Once Finn’s school became involved in the photo episode, it became a bigger thing, she said, and all I wanted to do was disappear, though she didn’t regret posing for the photo shoot.
I dont feel embarrassed about anything,” she said. “Regretting things is a waste of time.”
Nevertheless, she keeps comments disabled on her Instagram, on the advice of her daughter, who is now following in her footsteps as a model.
“My daughter told me to do that a couple years ago. Im really happy that I dont [have to see the comments], Turlington said. I cant say that Im Teflon. Im sure if I did read something that was pointed or mean, it would hurt me in the same way. But I also try not to give that much attention to any of it.”
Grace posed alongside her mother for a Carolina Herrera campaign in early 2023, and they paired up again this year in a joint campaign for Keds. The younger Turlington made her runway debut at the British Vogue x LuisaViaRoma show in June 2023, and walked again during Milan Fashion Week.
