Chynna Phillips revealed this week that she and husband Billy Baldwin faced difficulty in their marriage during a recent move to the West Coast.
There’s so many different things that I’m crying about, Phillips, 56, said Monday in an episode of her California Preachin’ vlog on YouTube.
Billy and I have been kinda going at it these past couple of days, the Wilson Phillips singer said. Which is frustrating because just when I feel like were on a roll and things are starting to get better, we start the bickering again.
To illustrate, Phillips described an argument that morning that made her realize she is always adjusting herself to avoid upsetting Baldwin, 61, to whom she’s been married since 1995.
“I was really proud of myself because we started arguing this morning, and he was like, What do you want? And I was like, I want to communicate properly. I want us to have effective communication’, she said.
Her response caused Baldwin to regain his composure and have a normal conversation, but it still left Phillips unsettled.
“Billys my life partner. Hes the one I want to have the healthiest relationship with … but sometimes I dont,” she said.
“A lot of times I dont because I dont want to rock the boat, or I dont want to put him in a bad mood, or Im walking on eggshells, she admitted.
“It just comes down to me not wanting to trigger him, but the truth is that me having that fear is keeping us from true intimacy, because its preventing me from opening up to him, and Im trying to guard his feelings, and yet Im causing more trouble in our marriage by doing that,” she said.
Phillips once filed for divorce in 2010, but they reconciled. She revealed that they also separated for six months when she took a deep dive into Jesus.
“I think he didnt quite know what to do with that because it was kind of all Jesus, all the time,” she said. Much of her California Preachin’ series is focused on her faith.
One thing I do know for sure, is that the pain I’m feeling today is not going to compare to the joy that I will be feeling for eternity, she said.
