Elisabeth Moss has confirmed she is pregnant with her first child.
The Mad Men star, 41, shared the happy news during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night.
“Are you pregnant or just an incredibly committed method actor?” Kimmel asked Moss, apparently referring to her role in The Handmaid’s Tale.
“A little bit of both,” the two-time Emmy winner replied.
It’s been going really well, Moss said, admitting she’s been really lucky so far. She also asked Kimmel, a 56-year-old father of four, for advice.
Instead, Kimmel offered the same advice legendary comedic actor Bill Murray gave him and his wife Molly McNearney before the birth of one of their children.
“He said, Bring Christmas lights to hang up [in the delivery room],” Kimmel recalled. Murray also advised bringing battery-powered candles.
“Because the lighting is terrible in the room,” Kimmel said. “Its Walmart-style lighting for this blessed event thats going to happen and you dont want that.”
“I think thats a really good list, I like that,” Moss said.
Moss did not share any further details about the pregnancy, including the due date, and it isn’t clear if she’s currently in a relationship. She was previously married to actor Fred Armisen for eight months, between 2009 and 2010. In an interview with New York Magazine, she described the marriage as “traumatic and awful and horrible.”
Moss stars in The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu, based on the Margaret Atwood’s dystopian 1985 novel of the same name. The series was renewed for a sixth and final season back in 2022, but filming was delayed by the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes last year.
