According to police, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the Lents neighborhood shortly before 10 a.m. on Thursday and determined Haynes, 70, was inside the home and uncooperative. Once officers entered the home, they found his wife, 85-year-old Janette Becraft, dead of a gunshot wound.
Police said that once Haynes is released from the hospital, which could take days, he is expected to be booked into jail, at which time formal charges will be announced.
Haynes was a famous wrestler in the 1980s, fighting under the World Wrestling Federation, which later became the WWE. He made an appearance at WrestleMania III, facing off against Hercules Hernandez.
