Melinda Gates Squashes Engagement Rumors, Confirms Breakup With Jon Du Pre

A rep for Melinda French Gates is squashing engagement rumors after the billionaire ex-wife of Bill Gates was photographed with a giant diamond on her wedding ring finger.
French Gates, 59, was pictured wearing the ring as she stepped off a helicopter in New York City over the weekend. Rumors began swirling that she might be engaged to former Fox News correspondent Jon Du Pre. The pair were first publicly linked back in 2022.
A spokesperson confirmed to multiple outlets on Monday that Melinda is not engaged and is no longer dating Jon Du Pre.
French Gates and the Microsoft co-founder, 68, finalized their divorce in 2021 after 27 years of marriage. They share three children, and continue to work together through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which they founded in 2000.
Bill Gates has since paired up with Paula Hurd, the widow of former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd, who died in 2019.
